Old age is not a disease. With people, as we get older, the systems in our body and mind slow down, or go wrong, or simply become less effective. As a result we tend to see our doctor more often (that is, if we can get an appointment!), probably at least once a year. Yet as our pets get older, they still tend to see the vet perhaps once a year- which is the equivalent of once every seven years! We feel that this is simply not enough.

Prevention is better than cure. Some of the old sayings really are true. We don't want to see people or animals suffer, which is why the medical profession tries to practice preventative medicine. We at Cogges prefer to see healthy animals come in on a regular basis so that we may help to keep them healthy. As your pet gets older, the need for him or her to be seen more often increases.

The benefits of having your senior pet checked regularly are multifold: if we see your pet more regularly it becomes easier for us to establish its state of health, and spot changes that may herald the onset of a disease. This could enable us to take measures and prevent your pet from needless suffering. Call us to make an appointment for a senior health check.
