Baz, an eight week old Labrador Puppy was brought in for a free pup check-up in mid-December. He had mild diarrhoea but was otherwise healthy.

A few days later he had both diarrhoea and vomiting and began losing weight rapidly.

He was hospitalised and we found that he had a huge WORM INFESTATION.

The breeder had wormed the puppies but had either missed out little Baz or used an inferior wormer.

Snow fell and the world became complicated. Baz travelled home with us (partly in a sled) and his iv fluids were hung up in the Christmas tree while he lay in his basket below - as cosy as can be.

Unfortunately Baz had developed an intussusception - a condition which occurs when one portion of bowel slides into another creating a blockage. A section of the bowel had to be removed.

All because of bad worming!

Baz is doing well.
