Christmas Pet of the Month: Pixel

One cold, snowy day in December, the Hicks family walked into town to do the last of their Christmas shopping, leaving their kitten, Pixel, home alone. He'd been playing in the snow all morning and so he sleepily promised to behave himself before settling on the sofa for a nap.

However, when they returned to their house later that day, Pixel wasn't on the windowsill waiting to greet them. The Hicks entered the house and looked all over before finally spotting him - he'd got into the Christmas tree!

'Waaaaa' cried little Pixel, 'I can't get down!'

Rushing to his help, his owners tried to get him down, but soon realized that he was tied up in the Christmas lights and was at risk of hurting himself.

They quickly called us here at Cogges Veterinary Surgery to ask for our help. We promised to be there as soon as possible, but looking outside we realized it was impossible to get anywhere - the snowfall was too heavy. Luckily Lisa, our head nurse, knows how to contact Santa Claus (who is an occasional client too - one of his reindeer always has sniffles..) and he agreed to come down with his sleigh to take us to see poor Pixel.

When we got there we gently untangled Pixel from the Christmas lights and checked him over.

Luckily he was fine, just a little shocked, and after some milk, and cookies - and carrots for the reindeer - Santa took us back to Cogges Hill Road, before going on his merry way - he mentioned he had some parcels to deliver.

As for Pixel... we can only hope that he's learned his lesson!
