Harvey

Harvey, a little whippet, belongs to Kerry, our practice manager. Earlier this year he developed an ulcer between two of his toes. The ulcer was caused by one of the toes rotating, thereby exerting pressure on the other one. For a long time this did not bother brave (!) Harvey, but more recently the bone began to be exposed and action had to be taken. The only viable option was to amputate the damaged toe.

Because of his age - Harvey is 11 years old - he had a pre-op blood sample taken. This was to ensure that he was fit enough to undergo the anaesthetic. Once the results had been analyzed the operation went ahead and Karen removed the damaged toe.

Harvey will manage well with three toes instead of four, as his glory days in agility are over. For the moment he enjoys showing off his big blue bandage and delights in the the attention he receives.
