In September of 2004 Maxi was diagnosed with a mast tumour on his sheath.
This is a malignant tumour.
Due to the position of the tumour, radical surgery (the treatment of choice)
was not an option. This, coupled with the poor response this type of tumour has
to chemotherapy, made Maxi's future look bleak.
Nonetheless, chemotherapy was instigated - with dramatic results. Here he is
on a recent
visit
for his monthly injection, still going strong!
Maxi has become something of a celebrity in the small, specialized world of
veterinary oncology.
Well done, Maxi.
