Penny is an 18 month old Golden Retriever. In December she developed a skin condition – she had scabbed lumps around her eyes, ears, and elbows. The lesions weren’t typical for the common skin conditions and made no response to initial treatment.
Vet Anna sedated Penny to take skin samples which were sent to the lab. Because of the location of the biopsies, Penny had to wear an ear bandage for a few days which she found quite stressful.
The results showed that she has eosinophilic dermatitis. Penny has been treated with an extended course of antibiotics and an allergy medication, and she has fortunately made an excellent recovery.
