Ted was first seen at our practice in 1999, when he was
still a mere lad. He is now almost 8
years old.
In August of 2006 Ted began to show signs of painful hips.
He limped occasionally, became anxious, and he resisted hip manipulation.
Radiographs were taken of his hips and bi-lateral hip dysplasia, with arthritic
changes, was found.
1 = Arthritic bone development
2 = Flattened head of femur
3 = Shallow sockets
Although we are unable to cure this condition, we have been
able to help him lead a comfortable life.
Ted has Flexivet added to his meals. This is a glucosamine
supplement. In addition he is helped with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
and hydro-therapy. All this has greatly alleviated his discomfort, without
putting too much financial strain on his owners, as Ted is insured.
Arthritis is a degenerative disease of the joints.
